Surrender – Release – Let Go

Surrender into the feeling that everything happens just as it is supposed to.

Walk tall into the moments of pain, hurt, and uncertainty.
See them as perfect lessons, perfect stepping stones to get you where you want to go.

A common theme in my life the past couple weeks has been to surrender into these moments. To become less rigid and tense and trust the process.

It came up in a yoga class.

For those of you familiar with yoga – holding a position for a long period of time can bring about some serious mind chatter . . . ‘how much longer do I have to hold this, this hurts, I can’t do this.’ Well, this is one way to experience it. However, when you surrender into the moment instead, into the stretch and uncomfortable feeling you’ll find a state of pure bliss.

Not just in yoga though. Anywhere.

When something is uncomfortable or unfamiliar, surrender into that feeling and see it as a blessing.
When I say surrender, for me that looks like and feels like an expansion of my mind. I am opening it up and allowing for a new something to take its place. ( for new space to be created, a new pathway to form )

It brings a whole different perspective to struggle and pain.

And a whole new form of gratitude and peace.

Instead of seeing these moments as unwanted, painful, or steps back, they could actually be the perfect preparation for a giant leap forward if we allow them to be – by simply surrendering.
I do think it is also important to keep your well-earned and sturdy roots in place during this process as well. It is not always about letting go of everything you know. We got this far for a reason and we’ve been through enough lessons to know what we want to stand for and what we value.  Be open to other opinions about your sturdy roots, you never know you might need to upgrade them yourself at some point, but remember why you grew them in the first place as well.

What is Deja Vu?

I have always wondered about this as I have experienced relatively intense deja vu’s my whole life. Even more so over the last few years; this past year especially.

For me, Deja Vu is when I find myself in a place, doing a thing, where I suddenly get this intense feeling of presence and as if I have been here before. I have been in this exact moment, doing this exact thing, at some other time and space. The clarity is uncanny and it’s as if it’s a message to me, trying to tell me something.

It has always, still somewhat does, put me a little on edge. It’s something out of this world it feels. That unknown unease.

My relationship with it lately I can feel is changing however. Just a few minutes ago I experienced it again . . . which prompted this writing . . . and while I have always wanted to understand it. I now feel like I am in a different place, where I will be able to understand it better if and when the information is presented to me.

I have heard talk about parallel realities, and how we never really die, only our bodies do and our soul reincarnates and continues to live out this world experience, forever learning and growing and expanding outward.

I have a deeper understanding these days of just how connected some of us really are. Soul families ( a group of people who vibrate on the same frequency, and have an intense magnetic bond, cut from the same cloth so to speak whether that be a soul friend, soul mate, or twin flame), kindred spirits ( the group of people who share the same interests and commonalities), soul missions etc. Maybe they are downloads from all of you letting me know I am right where I need to be. In that case. Mahalo. It is comforting. I definitely feel closer to where ever it is that I am going these days.

I found this site that has 12 possible reasons for deja vu . . . most of which are totally separate from each other and contradict one another. . . leading me to believe even more, we all are still totally confused about what it is lol From mini – seizures to enhanced brain activity to simply a need for more sleep. lol Who knows?!?!

But here I am here, still fascinated and feeling like I have a new perspective along with even more eagerness and ability to really understand and get to know it better.

Looking forward to what time brings.

16 Benefits of Meditation

To start – What is Meditation and how do we do it?

A lot of us actually already do it. We just didn’t bother giving it a name, because it was just something that happened ( like breathing or our heart beating. It just happens without effort or very little )

Meditation is simply being conscious and aware of our thoughts and letting them pass through our mind like clouds in the sky without any attachment to them.

At some points this is easy. At other times our minds are filled with so much noise that momentum is impossible to stop until we physically remove ourselves from any outward chaos and spend some time alone in nature. ( at least that’s what I do )

The Goal of Meditation

To return ourselves back to a state of presence. To be back fully in the present moment.

A lot of the time our thoughts are anchored in the past or future. But in reality, all there ever is, is the now. The present moment.

If you are completely new to this concept and have yet to feel you have control over your thoughts – the best way to begin is by simply noticing that we are breathing. Notice the air going through your nose on an inhale, your lungs and belly expanding outward, feel free to hold your breathe in for a second or two if that feels good, and then notice the warmer air passing through your nose on the exhale and your belly softening as the air is moved out of your body.

A lot of us breathe into our chests/rib cage. This is fine, but it actually puts strain on our shoulders and neck. If you notice this is how youre breathing, play around with expanding your belly out on the inhale, instead of your chest.

Sit tall with a straight spine as much as possible.

The goal here is to shift the focus. Instead of being stuck in our head with our thoughts, we put our focus and attention on a different part of our body.

We are separate from our thoughts. So when you notice a thought arise in your mind, simply acknowledge it, and then allow your mind to move on to either the next thought or maybe a space of stillness.

There really isn’t a right or wrong way to do this. At first it might seem incredibly difficult, especially later in the day. Our minds are full of information, conversations, words, ideas, problems etc.

I find it easier first thing in the morning when my mind is still relatively clear, or if I wake with a racing mind, getting myself outside into nature away from traffic, people, and all responsibilities before I do anything else.

Starting the day with a clear mind, and a feeling of control and awareness of our thoughts makes for an easier, more grounded, peaceful, and more enjoyable day.

Its when we feel a lack of control of our thoughts that we feel a lack of control over everything else in our reality.

So simply tuning in for even just a few minutes and feeling present and in your body first thing, makes a world of difference.

Mentally Strong

What does that mean?

I have a reoccurring theme in my life. It is the desire to be incredibly mentally strong.
Ever since I can remember I have had such an intense knowing that I wanted to be insanely mentally strong.

I’m not sure why.
It stems from that gut feeling and that unexplained deep knowing that I am meant to be this way.

My life has very much so delivered.
And the more I learn and grow the more I understand why it has delivered in such a strong way.

We are what we think.
We are what our purpose is.
We are what we feel.

Being mentally strong is the backbone to everything I do. It is ingrained in me so deep it feels as if it is apart of every cell of my being.

This type of feeling, this type of desire, this type of want creates an unparalleled pull. An energy so strong it does nothing but attract more of the like right back to me.

Any time we want something in our life, the more intense the desire is, the deeper the knowing is, the more we feel as if we already have it, and the more we can embody the feeling of already having it, the quicker and stronger it will manifest into our reality once we start taking action.

To me, being mentally strong means a few things.
It means stability.
Independence.
The ability to return to a peaceful state of mind even when your outer world is complete chaos.
Its the ability to calm yourself in an incredible intense situation that has your heart racing.
It’s the ability to remember why you are doing something on the days where the pull to return back to an old way is just about stronger than you are.

And that’s how you know you are growing.

When the pull is so strong it taps your outer limit of strength on the shoulder forcing you to either give in, or stretch that strength and little farther than you ever have before.

Becoming mentally strong means your limit is constantly tested;
your hard days are a little harder, your lows a little lower…
enabling you to stretch and strengthen it a little more every time.

But it means those good days are even better.

I will be forever grateful for this gut desire of being mentally strong.

I feel it enables me to help those around me.
To help find their peace.
Their clarity.
And to help them out of their lows.
To show them it’s a process, it’s a learning, it’s a test to see how strong you’re choosing to be.

Everything is balanced.
There is an equal opposite to all.

This testing of strength can bring out the worst.

But it can also give life to many extraordinary things.

The next time you’re struggling and thinking everything is so wrong….
just remember this is a showing of your strength and a test to see how strong you really want to be.

Choose to take back your control and decide your own fate.

I hope this finds you on a day when you’re needing a reminder that you are capable. That you are worthy and deserving of being in a more peaceful place.

And please remember you are not alone on this journey.

If you ever decide you would like a little guidance I am one message away.

All my best,
Jody

Feelin Fearless

I realized this morning upon waking what the theme of this past year has been for me.

Its been all about overcoming all the areas in my life where I was afraid.

Afraid to reach out. Afraid to try something new. Afraid to chase after a dream. Afraid to invest in myself. Afraid to fully believe in myself. Afraid to take leaps. Afraid to experience life fully. Afraid to fully feel. Afraid of what others might think of me. Afraid to fully surrender. Afraid to ask for help. Afraid to fully step myself out of the norm.

Well without fully realizing it until now… I conquered them all. Well at least a hell of a lot of them. I have accomplished an incredible amount in this past year, and man I should have with the year that I had. Every corner, every conversation, every decision, I was strongly facing some kind of fear I had within me. It was hard.

I guess I first somewhat noticed it when I was ziplining in Costa Rica. I had zero fear. Where in the past the nerves in my stomach would have made me so uncomfortable and sick. My anxiety would have been through the roof.  But not only was that not present I was giddy about it. I was the first one getting hooked up to that line and practically throwing myself off the ledge. Laughing when the guides joked about me not being hooked up correctly after I had already taken off. Arms out wide, gaze going in all directions. Dropping head first down the rope drops…whatever they are called…and having a fucking blast.

There was resistance though. I will say that. I didn’t go head first on my first drop, the guides had to help me break through that barrier.  And I never did go upside down on one of the zip lines. I still wanted to be able to reach back up with my hand and hold on. But it wasn’t from a place of fear though…I came to realize it was just because I had never done it, nor had I seen someone in person do it yet, so I didn’t know how. I didn’t know what it would look like. That is what stopped me. But I’m working on dropping that hesitation as well where I think I have to see someone else do it first in order for me to. Its not accurate, its just the way my mind has been trained to think. Another limitation I’m ecstatic to break through.

All in all I just keep coming back to the same conclusion, that the emotions of fear, worry, and doubt are not necessary. But we can use them and see them as indicators that we have reached a wall/block/hesitation and that once we push through it, there is some serious awesomeness waiting on the other side.

So my little wise words for the day . . . That I’m going to continue repeating for myself as well …

Don’t doubt yourself.

Let go of worry. We don’t need it.

And push through fear, that Hazelnut Hu Chocolate Bar is waiting on the other side 😉 and there just might be a raspberry one too ?? 😀

Love you all.

May this coming year be a fearless one.

Don’t Think – F E E L

Always be coming from a place of giving and love.

Our bodies are built on a foundation of Love, Joy, and Compassion. If our actions are not coming from matching intentions, what we try and create will inevitably crumble.

Nature knows what is best and it will consistently return to it’s delicate balance no matter what disrupts it – eliminating that which tried to cause it harm.

This quote has been a mantra of mine for awhile now.

It brings me back into balance and directs me to the people and places that feel like home.

Overthinking – we all do it.

But it creates chaos in our minds and bodies, and then translates out into our lives.

When we are able to master our minds . . . and let the thoughts begin to subside . . . and then learn to watch them from the backseat . . . life suddenly just flows effortlessly. As if we are being guided to exactly what we intuitively desire.

We change our vibration back into a state of abundance and joy.

Never stop learning and exploring your curiosities.

Pay attention to what life keeps putting in front of you.

It’s trying to guide you.

“Don’t think. Just Feel. And if it feels like home, follow its path ”

Present and Aware

How much time in the day do you spend on your phone?

Are you on it right now?

😉

Working from my laptop and phone means I spend a good amount of time in front of a screen myself . . . but I had a funny little thought the other day that helped me out since I love what I do.

Treat your phone like a C h o c o l a t e B a r! haha yeah!

It’s good to have a little, but don’t over do it. And if you’re gunna go for it, DO IT . . . it’s all good . . . but forgo the next day. ( <– that parts important guys , self discipline )

When was the last time you really looked at a tree and watched a gentle wind move the leaves in every direction?

Did you hear the birds nearby?

Did you feel the slight breeze on your cheek?

When was the last time you heard silence? Silence of your surroundings, but also silence of your own mind.

Words on a page are simply words – until we D e c i d e to let them bring about A c t i o n.

Nature has such a brilliant way of bringing back that silence. That place of calm and peace where we feel comforted by the beauty all around us.

Find your silence – your presence today.

Whether it’s for 5 minutes, an hour, or even just a split second. If its been awhile since you’ve felt completely present in the moment that split second can be life changing.

A split second today, can turn into a minute the next, and 5 minutes the day after.

Our minds follow what we tell them to do. Retraining them to be present in every moment leaves us feeling satisfied and less jumbled, less forgetful, less stressed and tense, and more able to relax and enjoy the world around us.

More present to make good decisions. A feeling of being grounded and stable instead of wired and chaotic.

I choose to follow the example nature gives me. I am apart of nature just as much as it is apart of me. The more I relax into the moment and feel present and aware of all my surroundings the more joyful and full of life I become.

And you can too.

Let your goal today to be to find your p r e s e n c e.

your silence . your time . your space .

you deserve it

Calming Our Minds – Bringing Positivity into O u r Lives

6 Tips

You can do right now to shift your vibration back into alignment.

I do these all the time when life gets a little crazy.  They keep me balanced, alert and able to make good decisions when they really count.

May they be just as transformative for you as they have been for me

1. Nothing needs your immediate attention right now.

Yes there may be an inbox full of emails, more DMs than you can keep track of, and dishes in the sink . . . but they aren’t going anywhere.

Just you, taking a much needed minute for you.

Because you deserve it.

2.  Become Present in the Current Moment.

Feel your feet on the floor or feel your weight in the chair.  Become grounded to the earth. Let it support you.

3. Create a feeling of Space in your mind.

Allow it to open and be clear. Expand your awareness outward. Breath deep and imagine sending air to your brain. May sound weird! but it works!!

4. Your thoughts are separate from Y o u.

We are souls that can take a backseat to our overactive minds. View your thoughts like a movie you aren’t really interested in. They can be there in the background, but you don’t actually have to engage with them.

Choose the ones you want to listen to and ignore the ones you don’t.

Most are unnecessary and just background noise.

5. Focus on your Breathing.

Notice how the air is cool on the inhale, and slightly warmer on the exhale. Notice the rise and fall of your chest/belly. Imagine a flow of energy moving through your body and life flourishing throughout your cells.

6. Think of 3 things you are G r a t e f u l for.

Really grateful for.

And feel the loving and comforting feeling flood your body when thinking about them.

Enjoy this time of peace. You deserve it. After all, being peaceful and full of joy is our birthright.

You have the ability to return back to this space at any time you need to.

I Like What I See

When you wake up in the morning, look around.

Look at your hands, your legs and body.

Look at the bed you’re in, the room that surrounds you.

The things that surround you.

Look at yourself in the mirror.

And say – I like what I see.

It might sound congruent.

It might not at all.

Some of it may, while some of it might not.

All is okay.

Each morning, keep saying, I like what I see.

And before you know it…if you didn’t already…you will start loving what you see. Your life will shift, your perspective will shift, the things that surround you will shift into being congruent with this statement.

Everywhere you go…

I like what I see.

I love what I’m doing.

We create the reality that is in front of us. Every piece.

First in our minds, then manifesting out through physical form.

If we are looking around saying/thinking I don’t like what I see, I don’t like where I am or what I’m doing….we create more of that for ourselves.  Those words, those thoughts are like seeds being planted in our minds, and the more we think and say them…the more we water them to grow and get bigger.

Lets only grow what we want to see.

When we catch ourselves looking out and seeing something we don’t like…retract from those thoughts…and replace them with, I like what I see. It may seem weird to say I like what I see, when in actuality we may not currently like what’s in front of us… keep your trust. The transformative power behind looking at something that you don’t like, and saying out loud, I like what I see….will probably shock you.

Reinforcing this in our minds can very quickly shift what you are looking at into something you actually like seeing.

You will know you’ve learned this concept when you’re living, moving, and doing everything in a state of joyful flow, each moment and experience growing in power one after another.

“The desire for a more positive experience is itself a negative experience. And paradoxically, the acceptance of ones negative experience is itself a positive experience.” Mark Manson

Vulnerability

It’s what makes us human.

It’s what makes us feel alive.
It’s what brings the deep connection.

It connects us with who we truly are.

It is not weakness – It is Strength
It is looked down upon – But it should be Cherished.

Allow yourself to be vulnerable. Not only around others, but even with yourself.

Cry when you need to.
See it as a releasing of the old to make room for the new.
Our bodies are filled with this energy.
Let it out instead of
storing it away.

There will be a flush of release throughout your body by doing so.

Be vulnerable around others.
Choose wisely who deserves this part of you.
It breaks down a wall that allows for more love, joy, and comfort to come in.

Everything is connected.
We are meant to be connected to each other.
But we unknowingly refuse to feel it.

Feel connected to those around you.
Let them see you at your lows.
Let them see you at your highs.

You are meant to be around the people you are around.

See yourself in these people and your actions toward them will soften and become more passionate.

We are all human. We all come from the same thing.
Be you.
It opens the ability for others to do the same.
