What is Deja Vu?

I have always wondered about this as I have experienced relatively intense deja vu’s my whole life. Even more so over the last few years; this past year especially.

For me, Deja Vu is when I find myself in a place, doing a thing, where I suddenly get this intense feeling of presence and as if I have been here before. I have been in this exact moment, doing this exact thing, at some other time and space. The clarity is uncanny and it’s as if it’s a message to me, trying to tell me something.

It has always, still somewhat does, put me a little on edge. It’s something out of this world it feels. That unknown unease.

My relationship with it lately I can feel is changing however. Just a few minutes ago I experienced it again . . . which prompted this writing . . . and while I have always wanted to understand it. I now feel like I am in a different place, where I will be able to understand it better if and when the information is presented to me.

I have heard talk about parallel realities, and how we never really die, only our bodies do and our soul reincarnates and continues to live out this world experience, forever learning and growing and expanding outward.

I have a deeper understanding these days of just how connected some of us really are. Soul families ( a group of people who vibrate on the same frequency, and have an intense magnetic bond, cut from the same cloth so to speak whether that be a soul friend, soul mate, or twin flame), kindred spirits ( the group of people who share the same interests and commonalities), soul missions etc. Maybe they are downloads from all of you letting me know I am right where I need to be. In that case. Mahalo. It is comforting. I definitely feel closer to where ever it is that I am going these days.

I found this site that has 12 possible reasons for deja vu . . . most of which are totally separate from each other and contradict one another. . . leading me to believe even more, we all are still totally confused about what it is lol From mini – seizures to enhanced brain activity to simply a need for more sleep. lol Who knows?!?!

But here I am here, still fascinated and feeling like I have a new perspective along with even more eagerness and ability to really understand and get to know it better.

Back In Hawaii

Now that I am back in Hawaii and have had some time and space to be in an environment that suits me better I’ve been able to settle back into the eating habits that help my body thrive. ⁣⁣We are all different and one person’s food could be another person’s poison, and what I ate yesterday could not work for me today. It’s all about listening in and aligning with what your body is asking for in the moment. And then taking appropriate action. ⁣⁣For me and my body -⁣⁣I thrive off of plants. No dairy or meat, and gluten free grains.  Ample fruit and veggies, with a sprinkle of grains, beans, legumes, nuts, and seeds in the mix.  Easy on the healthy fats, easy on the protein, and ample amounts lemon water.  In warmer climates I prefer raw foods, and eat cooked for dinner. I haven’t wanted much spices lately. The foods I’m around are so flavorful as they are, they don’t need it. Still love warming soups and don’t think I’ll ever get enough curry dishes or Mexican food. 🥰⁣⁣Healthy fats are still my downfall although not as much lately.  Those cashew bars, coconut cream, peanut butter, and avocados are all so wonderful but my energy is definitely better when I limit my intake. ⁣⁣Anyway – the power of food and high quality pure nutrition is so fascinating to me. It really only takes a day or two of proper eating of what your bodys needing in the moment to experience incredible shifts in health. ⁣⁣I love it so much

16 Benefits of Meditation

To start – What is Meditation and how do we do it?

A lot of us actually already do it. We just didn’t bother giving it a name, because it was just something that happened ( like breathing or our heart beating. It just happens without effort or very little )

Meditation is simply being conscious and aware of our thoughts and letting them pass through our mind like clouds in the sky without any attachment to them.

At some points this is easy. At other times our minds are filled with so much noise that momentum is impossible to stop until we physically remove ourselves from any outward chaos and spend some time alone in nature. ( at least that’s what I do )

The Goal of Meditation

To return ourselves back to a state of presence. To be back fully in the present moment.

A lot of the time our thoughts are anchored in the past or future. But in reality, all there ever is, is the now. The present moment.

If you are completely new to this concept and have yet to feel you have control over your thoughts – the best way to begin is by simply noticing that we are breathing. Notice the air going through your nose on an inhale, your lungs and belly expanding outward, feel free to hold your breathe in for a second or two if that feels good, and then notice the warmer air passing through your nose on the exhale and your belly softening as the air is moved out of your body.

A lot of us breathe into our chests/rib cage. This is fine, but it actually puts strain on our shoulders and neck. If you notice this is how youre breathing, play around with expanding your belly out on the inhale, instead of your chest.

Sit tall with a straight spine as much as possible.

The goal here is to shift the focus. Instead of being stuck in our head with our thoughts, we put our focus and attention on a different part of our body.

We are separate from our thoughts. So when you notice a thought arise in your mind, simply acknowledge it, and then allow your mind to move on to either the next thought or maybe a space of stillness.

There really isn’t a right or wrong way to do this. At first it might seem incredibly difficult, especially later in the day. Our minds are full of information, conversations, words, ideas, problems etc.

I find it easier first thing in the morning when my mind is still relatively clear, or if I wake with a racing mind, getting myself outside into nature away from traffic, people, and all responsibilities before I do anything else.

Starting the day with a clear mind, and a feeling of control and awareness of our thoughts makes for an easier, more grounded, peaceful, and more enjoyable day.

Its when we feel a lack of control of our thoughts that we feel a lack of control over everything else in our reality.

So simply tuning in for even just a few minutes and feeling present and in your body first thing, makes a world of difference.

Don’t Think – F E E L

Always be coming from a place of giving and love.

Our bodies are built on a foundation of Love, Joy, and Compassion. If our actions are not coming from matching intentions, what we try and create will inevitably crumble.

Nature knows what is best and it will consistently return to it’s delicate balance no matter what disrupts it – eliminating that which tried to cause it harm.

This quote has been a mantra of mine for awhile now.

It brings me back into balance and directs me to the people and places that feel like home.


Overthinking – we all do it.

But it creates chaos in our minds and bodies, and then translates out into our lives.

When we are able to master our minds . . . and let the thoughts begin to subside . . . and then learn to watch them from the backseat . . . life suddenly just flows effortlessly. As if we are being guided to exactly what we intuitively desire.

We change our vibration back into a state of abundance and joy.

Never stop learning and exploring your curiosities.

Pay attention to what life keeps putting in front of you.

It’s trying to guide you.

Making sure we wait until we are in a good place to make decisions will help your life flow so much more smoothly. The feeling of regretting a past decision or fretting over whether or not you made the right decision is no longer an issue. 

You will be confident you made the right choice and this right choice opens life up and allows us to live more in the present. 

How to get yourself in the right mindset / the perfect time: 

Do what brings you peace.

What gives you a clear mind? 


Here are some of my own personal things I do to clear my head and de-stress when life gets crazy. 


I go to the beach and either run and stretch, or sit and meditate. Or both. 


I do yoga. (meditation)

Clearing the mind of unnecessary thoughts.
I write. 
I draw. 
I hike. 


Sometimes this is a solo activity. Sometimes I need communication and connection.

Find what works for YOU in your current moment. 

We seem to have come to a place where when someones asks us a question, needs a favor, or a decision needs to be made we feel we have to respond right away. We don’t!

It is perfectly okay, and even better if we take the time we feel we need to respond. Not only will this make you feel more in control and end in a better result, others will appreciate our willingness to take time to make the right choice. Trust and respect will grow. In yourself, and from others.

I never did like the idea of having a typical job.

I didn’t want to be stuck to a repetitive schedule.

I didn’t like looking into my dogs face as I left for work. Her devastation broke my heart.

• To be able to work completely from my laptop. And as many or as little hours as I wanted

And then all of a sudden I got it. On a silver platter, E x a c t l y as I had asked for it.

No – I didn’t get the full cake . . . but I got some incredible ingredients to make one

It took me a little to realize it . . . 🤫

But when I did, I then realized I got even more as well.

I got a family of people who support me non stop. Who encourage me to be my best self.

My success in their eyes, is first priority.

Present and Aware

How much time in the day do you spend on your phone?

Are you on it right now? 

😉

Working from my laptop and phone means I spend a good amount of time in front of a screen myself . . . but I had a funny little thought the other day that helped me out since I love what I do.

Treat your phone like a C h o c o l a t e B a r! haha yeah!

It’s good to have a little, but don’t over do it. And if you’re gunna go for it, DO IT . . . it’s all good . . . but forgo the next day. ( <– that parts important guys , self discipline )

When was the last time you really looked at a tree and watched a gentle wind move the leaves in every direction?

Did you hear the birds nearby?

Did you feel the slight breeze on your cheek?


 When was the last time you heard silence? Silence of your surroundings, but also silence of your own mind. 


Words on a page are simply words – until we D e c i d e to let them bring about A c t i o n. 



Nature has such a brilliant way of bringing back that silence. That place of calm and peace where we feel comforted by the beauty all around us. 

Find your silence – your presence today.

Whether it’s for 5 minutes, an hour, or even just a split second. If its been awhile since you’ve felt completely present in the moment that split second can be life changing.

A split second today, can turn into a minute the next, and 5 minutes the day after. 

Our minds follow what we tell them to do. Retraining them to be present in every moment leaves us feeling satisfied and less jumbled, less forgetful, less stressed and tense, and more able to relax and enjoy the world around us.

More present to make good decisions. A feeling of being grounded and stable instead of wired and chaotic. 

I choose to follow the example nature gives me. I am apart of nature just as much as it is apart of me. The more I relax into the moment and feel present and aware of all my surroundings the more joyful and full of life I become. 

And you can too.

Gratitude

A reoccurring lesson in my life has been about the power of Gratitude.

Reoccurring only because I keep unknowingly stopping my practice and putting myself into a place where I have to relearn the lesson to get back on track. Back in balance.

I’m human. I learn as I go. As do we all. 🙂

It’s been a hard lesson at times, but always very worth it. .

When we are not grateful for the things we have in our lives, we can soon find ourselves without any of them. I’ve been here many times.

The universe will forever amaze me in its ability to massively shift my reality to get it back into balance.

And it can do it very quickly.

lack of gratitude for what currently is . . . will shift our realities into one of lack of everything. We live in a world of complete abundance, but when we aren’t grateful, we look through eyes of lack. We pick out whats missing, instead of appreciating what is there, the abundance.

I have learned gratitude can also work just as quickly in the opposite direction. Almost instantaneously.

Gratitude, when practiced correctly, instantly changes our bodies vibrations from a place of lack, to a place of abundance and love. And when it comes to drawing in that which we are wanting…. coming from a place of love, abundance, and joy draws it in insanely quicker than from a place of fear, worry, or lack.

As soon as I realized I wasn’t showing gratitude for the things in my life, I made it a point to list off at least 3 things before bed that night, and again right as I woke up the following morning. I felt like a different person the remainder of that following day. The way the people around interacted with me, the experiences and opportunities I ended up having, my own state of happiness and joy had literally flip flopped over night from a place of feeling alone, sorrowful, unworthy, and disappointed in myself, to a place of comfort, joy, happiness, compassion, and overflowing with abundance.

Being grateful raises our vibration. It helps us feel lighter, more clear, more grounded and centered. From this place, we are working with life instead of against it and things start falling right into place.  It forces us to come from a place of love, over a place of fear.

I may be talking more about the importance of always coming from a place of love in another post, but until I do, here is a little snip bit….every decision and every thought we have that comes from a place of love, will catapult us forward into a higher state of happiness and joy, while every decision and thought based off of fear will drag us farther down into the lower vibrations of unhappiness and imbalance.

Always be coming from a place of love : )

And back to gratitude….

If you want to bring some of this wonderfulness into your life here is my own gratitude practice to help you get an idea for yourself.


For each, I list off 3 things I am grateful for. If not more. You can do this just in your head, but writing it down is even more powerful. And even more powerful than that is sharing them with someone else.

  • Right as I wake up (before I even get out of bed)
  • Before I eat. So breakfast, lunch, and dinner ( if I’m totally on my game…before my snacks too )
  • Before I start work.
  • Before I go to bed.

At first it takes a little to get in the hang of it, but once you do…its really easy to list off way more than 3. The more the better!!

Now this is a lot…if you are completely new to this gratitude thing….I would start with one of those.  So maybe either right before bed, or as you wake up. And once you have that down…keep going 🙂

It is not merely about quickly muttering out anything. You have to actually genuinely be grateful. It is about FEELING it. You have to really appreciate that which you are saying you are grateful for. It is this feeling that changes the vibration in our body.

What we FEEL … is what we get.

And we have the power to choose what we feel.
