Overcoming Overwhelm

In moments of overwhelm and stress, a feeling of chaos, or a mind that is loud and endlessly running….typically when we feel there is so much to be done and never enough time to do it all….this is when I completely stop and do nothing.

I get still.
Mentally and Physically.

I have come to understand the actions we take are either out of fear or out of love. And what we put out, is what we get back.

In these moments of overwhelm we are acting out of fear.
Fear of a lack of time. Fear of disappointing. Fear of failure.

The only way to break the cycle is to be still and wait until you are in a place of peace.

I do this in a few different ways.
Yoga

Cooking

Reading

Gardening

Meditation

Cleaning / Decluttering
Nature / Hike by myself

Listening to Spiritual Teachers

Whatever it looks like for you, however you can, get yourself back to a state of calm and peace – everything else can wait. And should wait. Your best work does not come from a place of fear, it comes from a place of love.

I hope the next time you feel overwhelmed you have the strength to be still. To go inside yourself and find your clarity before you continue on.

By doing this you will come to find this time of stillness will be followed by a time of intense progress. Everything is balanced. With stillness comes action. Which brings aligbed action. And from aligned action we step into the flow state of peaceful, streamlined productivity.

All my best,
Jody

Confidence

It is what kicks that annoying emotion of fear in the ass.

It is what makes things possible.

It is what makes life fun.

It is how we adventure, find new places, meet new people.

It opens our awareness, makes our experiences incredibly more vibrant and meaningful.

It elevates our consciousness.

It relaxes us. It brings a feeling of home and comfort into our souls.

It is a love for life, for others, for experiences and opportunities, and most importantly….it is a love for ourselves.

Confidence completely comes from within. It is comfort we find within ourselves and our bodies. It is the opposite of negative self talk. It is positive affirmations.

Those tummy butterflies that appear right before we are about to do something that scares us ….. those are excitement ( borrowing this incredible insight from the book Fearless ) and joyful anticipation for the incredible road block we are about to tackle and this incredible full of life experience we are about to have.

Let confidence triumph over fear.

Turn fear to excitement.

Turn living…into THRIVING.

Surrender – Release – Let Go

Surrender into the feeling that everything happens just as it is supposed to.

Walk tall into the moments of pain, hurt, and uncertainty.
See them as perfect lessons, perfect stepping stones to get you where you want to go.

A common theme in my life the past couple weeks has been to surrender into these moments. To become less rigid and tense and trust the process.

It came up in a yoga class.

For those of you familiar with yoga – holding a position for a long period of time can bring about some serious mind chatter . . . ‘how much longer do I have to hold this, this hurts, I can’t do this.’ Well, this is one way to experience it. However, when you surrender into the moment instead, into the stretch and uncomfortable feeling you’ll find a state of pure bliss.

Not just in yoga though. Anywhere.

When something is uncomfortable or unfamiliar, surrender into that feeling and see it as a blessing.
When I say surrender, for me that looks like and feels like an expansion of my mind. I am opening it up and allowing for a new something to take its place. ( for new space to be created, a new pathway to form )

It brings a whole different perspective to struggle and pain.

And a whole new form of gratitude and peace.

Instead of seeing these moments as unwanted, painful, or steps back, they could actually be the perfect preparation for a giant leap forward if we allow them to be – by simply surrendering.
I do think it is also important to keep your well-earned and sturdy roots in place during this process as well. It is not always about letting go of everything you know. We got this far for a reason and we’ve been through enough lessons to know what we want to stand for and what we value.  Be open to other opinions about your sturdy roots, you never know you might need to upgrade them yourself at some point, but remember why you grew them in the first place as well.
Accept What Is   –  Let Go of What Was  –  Be Open to What is Coming Next.

Handling Hard Days

Hard Days – We all Have Them.

But our perception of them is what determines whether we call it a hard/bad day or a Day of Growth.

In order to move forward and progress we have to be willing to be completely present and aware in the moments that really count. The moments of struggle, the moments of anger, sorrow, hurt, disappointment etc.

These moments are the tug, the pull, the stretch into something new. These are the signs that what you are after is wanting you, but in order for it to become your reality you have to change your current understanding and view yet another perspective.

What we want, wants us.
In order to get something different, we have to become something different.

Notice yourself the next time you get angry, hurt, or upset. And when you notice this, stop and step back.  Relax into the moment and see it as an opportunity for massive growth.

Examine the root of what triggered your reaction.

These emotions are giant signs that there is an off balance and growth is trying to take place.
This is your chance to aim it in the direction you want it to go.

Decide what it is you are wanting and how it is different from what you are currently getting.

We are not our emotions. We witness our emotions flooding through our bodies. We have the ability to detach from them and watch them run their course and stop and shift them as we choose to further our own development and evolution.

Every tug and pull is a little sign trying to keep you on track.

If you are feeling stuck, drained, uninspired, or unmotivated, see it as a blessing! This is the perfect time to do some serious manifesting. Use this down/negative energy to fuel yourself. This is where you can get serious and determined about what you want. This is where we can really build up our motivational energy and say to ourselves this is not what I want, I want this instead, and then go at it at full force! So much momentum can be gained here.

Action Steps:

The next time you see yourself in a moment of frustration, anger, or lack of motivation, step back mentally in your mind ( sometimes physically taking a step back works really well too ) and stop what you are doing. Bring awareness to what feeling/s you have in your body, work on finding what brought that feeling into being, and then push through/break through/ transcend/ surrender/ leg go/ release it into a better feeling that you are wanting. You’ll feel elevated and like a weight has lifted when you do this.

Find humor in your crazy emotions. Again, we are not our emotions, we are the ones witnessing them. Sometimes our emotions are completely crazy and make no sense. Be willing to laugh and at them. It lightens the moment and dramatically helps you separate your body and headspace from the negative energy that arises from it. A lot of the time we are actually picking up and absorbing the emotions/energies from people around us and the environments we are in.

Be curious about your emotions. Honor them, respect them, and you’ll gain an understanding of them. It will help in your own development and even help you in understanding what others around you are going through and give you the ability to help them with what they are going through as well.

Opportunities

BE OPEN

We are bombarded by opportunities left and right every day, and when we are in alignment these opportunities are like a bowl of frozen raspberries with cacao nibs and coconut sugar. aka yummy.

These days, when we ask for something . . . ta da! there’s the opportunity for us to take to give us exactly what we asked for. The more in alignment we are, the more instantaneous this becomes.

Its really insanely wonderful. Once you get the hang of it lol

Its when we don’t take the opportunity that things get sticky and uncomfortable.

There is still work we have to put in to releasing the old to make room for this new awesome . . . but we come to find the ‘work’ is fun! It only becomes hard when we start taking actions in the opposite direction of our desire.

( thank you universe for making me uncomfortable to guide me back in the right direction )

Look for these opportunities. Be open to them. Encourage them and want them in your life. Most of the time they are already there, waiting for us to remember them, but we are too fast-paced and not present in the moment enough to see them. Which is a bummer because these opportunities are exactly what we need to grow and evolve. ( in turn living out our wants and dreams)

I used to use the phrase ‘follow your dreams’ all the time and then realized a couple things – First – what were my dreams? What was it that I was dreaming about every night when my head hit that pillow. Was there a common theme? HECK YES THERE WAS. That was what I needed to follow.

Second – once I started listening and following, I then realized I no longer wanted to follow my dreams. I wanted to LIVE my dreams. To turn them into my reality.

So I ‘gave in’ so to speak. I call this surrendering now, or even better, releasing my grip and letting myself fully feel the present moment. It allowed me to see where I was, release these blocks that had been built up, and open me up to allow opportunities to begin to present themselves.

These opportunities are what gets us to where we are wanting to go.

Which really, at the end of the day – the root of everything we could ever desire is a deeper and deeper feeling of love and bliss. The things and experiences we crave – are what bring about these emotions of love and bliss.

It is important to keep our wants in our minds and bring an awareness around whether or not our actions are actually in alignment with them, but it is just as important to be open and ready to do something different, to take a step in a direction you haven’t gone before, otherwise life will constantly be giving you what you want, while you’re still over there waiting for it.

In order to get something different – to have something that we have never had – to experience something that we have yet to do – we have to realize that means we have to do something we have yet to do, to get it.

Be open.
Be willing to try new things.

Get out of your comfort zone. Like way out. The more you push the edges of that comfort zone the bigger it gets, which means the next hurtle will be a little bit higher, a little bit scarier, a little bit tougher to throw yourself over.

but that also just means – whats on the other side is that much more amazing.

Realize that what you want, wants you, but you have to be willing to do something you haven’t yet done to receive it.

p.s.

as I write this, it is also a reminder to myself, that I currently have wants waiting for me too.

I am on this journey right along with you .

reprogramming, rewiring our minds, back to a space where everything was once perfectly aligned.

Mentally Strong

What does that mean?

I have a reoccurring theme in my life. It is the desire to be incredibly mentally strong.
Ever since I can remember I have had such an intense knowing that I wanted to be insanely mentally strong.

I’m not sure why.
It stems from that gut feeling and that unexplained deep knowing that I am meant to be this way.

My life has very much so delivered.
And the more I learn and grow the more I understand why it has delivered in such a strong way.

We are what we think.
We are what our purpose is.
We are what we feel.

Being mentally strong is the backbone to everything I do. It is ingrained in me so deep it feels as if it is apart of every cell of my being.

This type of feeling, this type of desire, this type of want creates an unparalleled pull. An energy so strong it does nothing but attract more of the like right back to me.

Any time we want something in our life, the more intense the desire is, the deeper the knowing is, the more we feel as if we already have it, and the more we can embody the feeling of already having it, the quicker and stronger it will manifest into our reality once we start taking action.

To me, being mentally strong means a few things.
It means stability.
Independence.
The ability to return to a peaceful state of mind even when your outer world is complete chaos.
Its the ability to calm yourself in an incredible intense situation that has your heart racing.
It’s the ability to remember why you are doing something on the days where the pull to return back to an old way is just about stronger than you are.

And that’s how you know you are growing.

When the pull is so strong it taps your outer limit of strength on the shoulder forcing you to either give in, or stretch that strength and little farther than you ever have before.

Becoming mentally strong means your limit is constantly tested;
your hard days are a little harder, your lows a little lower…
enabling you to stretch and strengthen it a little more every time.

But it means those good days are even better.

I will be forever grateful for this gut desire of being mentally strong.

I feel it enables me to help those around me.
To help find their peace.
Their clarity.
And to help them out of their lows.
To show them it’s a process, it’s a learning, it’s a test to see how strong you’re choosing to be.

Everything is balanced.
There is an equal opposite to all.

This testing of strength can bring out the worst.

But it can also give life to many extraordinary things.

The next time you’re struggling and thinking everything is so wrong….
just remember this is a showing of your strength and a test to see how strong you really want to be.

Choose to take back your control and decide your own fate.

I hope this finds you on a day when you’re needing a reminder that you are capable. That you are worthy and deserving of being in a more peaceful place.

And please remember you are not alone on this journey.

If you ever decide you would like a little guidance I am one message away.

All my best,
Jody

Don’t Think – F E E L

Always be coming from a place of giving and love.

Our bodies are built on a foundation of Love, Joy, and Compassion. If our actions are not coming from matching intentions, what we try and create will inevitably crumble.

Nature knows what is best and it will consistently return to it’s delicate balance no matter what disrupts it – eliminating that which tried to cause it harm.

This quote has been a mantra of mine for awhile now.

It brings me back into balance and directs me to the people and places that feel like home.

Overthinking – we all do it.

But it creates chaos in our minds and bodies, and then translates out into our lives.

When we are able to master our minds . . . and let the thoughts begin to subside . . . and then learn to watch them from the backseat . . . life suddenly just flows effortlessly. As if we are being guided to exactly what we intuitively desire.

We change our vibration back into a state of abundance and joy.

Never stop learning and exploring your curiosities.

Pay attention to what life keeps putting in front of you.

It’s trying to guide you.

“Don’t think. Just Feel. And if it feels like home, follow its path ”

Aligning Energy with Action

Deciding when to take action.

There is a right and wrong time to make decisions
and take action on them.

Here’s the not so good time:
When we are stressed

 Sad
When our mind is running like crazy
When we feel like there’s not enough time in the day to do everything we need to
When we aren’t enjoying what we’re doing
When we’re tired
When we’re angry or frustrated

Here’s the perfect time:
When you’re centered
Grounded
 Balanced
When life feels like its worth living
When you’re flooded with amazing ideas of things you want to do
When your mind is still
When the thought of an outcome brings a smile to your face
When you feel loved
When you feel light and joyous
When you feel ambitious

Making sure we wait until we are in a good place to make decisions will help your life flow so much more smoothly. The feeling of regretting a past decision or fretting over whether or not you made the right decision is no longer an issue.

You will be confident you made the right choice and this right choice opens life up and allows us to live more in the present.

How to get yourself in the right mindset / the perfect time:

Do what brings you peace.

What gives you a clear mind?

Here are some of my own personal things I do to clear my head and de-stress when life gets crazy.

I go to the beach and either run and stretch, or sit and meditate. Or both.

I do yoga. (meditation)

Clearing the mind of unnecessary thoughts.
I write.
I draw.
I hike.

Sometimes this is a solo activity. Sometimes I need communication and connection.

Find what works for YOU in your current moment.

We seem to have come to a place where when someones asks us a question, needs a favor, or a decision needs to be made we feel we have to respond right away. We don’t!

It is perfectly okay, and even better if we take the time we feel we need to respond. Not only will this make you feel more in control and end in a better result, others will appreciate our willingness to take time to make the right choice. Trust and respect will grow. In yourself, and from others.

I hope this finds you on a day when you are needing it the most.

All my best,

Jody

Intentions / Burning Passion / Desire

With each day that passes my Passions, my Desires, my Wants, and my Purpose get stronger and stronger.

I am full of a burning desire to create a change in this world.

A world filled with more Joy, more Love, more Respect, more Help, more Mindfulness, more Awareness, and more Authenticity.

Adding these aspects into my own life taught me these are such a huge part of the foundation of living a True, Passionate, Authentic, Fulfilled life.

In order to see and live in a different world, it first starts with cultivating it for our own self. Bringing the qualities we want to see in our life – into our personal life first.

We can’t expect somebody else to respect or love us, if we don’t first respect or love ourselves.

– Get really clear on what you want in your own life.

– Develop an awareness around your thoughts, actions, and habits.

– Then deliberately change your thoughts, actions, and habits to align with what you are wanting

This isn’t something that happens in a day or a week, or even a month.

It takes time and is forever changing and evolving.

The key is to enjoy the process.

Noticing the slight tugs and pulls of resistance when our actions aren’t aligning. See them as wonderful opportunities to take action and shift in the direction you want to go.

In time you will begin to build a solid foundation.

Living authentically inspires and allows others to do the same.

It is a very powerful and beautiful ripple effect.

So…

What enlivens you?

What brings you joy?

What are you most passionate about and love sharing with others?

Gaining clarity on what you want and focusing your attention on it daily aligns your experience with what you are wanting.

We create our own realities every second of everyday whether we realize it or not.

What kind of life do you want?

Write it down.

Think about about.

Feel as if you already have it.

The more we do this and are aware of our thoughts and how we feel in each moment, the quicker we are able to align with what brings us the most joy, the most satisfaction, and ultimately the most fulfilling life we can live. The one we came here to live. We just forget.

Let’s remember.

Present and Aware

How much time in the day do you spend on your phone?

Are you on it right now?

😉

Working from my laptop and phone means I spend a good amount of time in front of a screen myself . . . but I had a funny little thought the other day that helped me out since I love what I do.

Treat your phone like a C h o c o l a t e B a r! haha yeah!

It’s good to have a little, but don’t over do it. And if you’re gunna go for it, DO IT . . . it’s all good . . . but forgo the next day. ( <– that parts important guys , self discipline )

When was the last time you really looked at a tree and watched a gentle wind move the leaves in every direction?

Did you hear the birds nearby?

Did you feel the slight breeze on your cheek?

When was the last time you heard silence? Silence of your surroundings, but also silence of your own mind.

Words on a page are simply words – until we D e c i d e to let them bring about A c t i o n.

Nature has such a brilliant way of bringing back that silence. That place of calm and peace where we feel comforted by the beauty all around us.

Find your silence – your presence today.

Whether it’s for 5 minutes, an hour, or even just a split second. If its been awhile since you’ve felt completely present in the moment that split second can be life changing.

A split second today, can turn into a minute the next, and 5 minutes the day after.

Our minds follow what we tell them to do. Retraining them to be present in every moment leaves us feeling satisfied and less jumbled, less forgetful, less stressed and tense, and more able to relax and enjoy the world around us.

More present to make good decisions. A feeling of being grounded and stable instead of wired and chaotic.

I choose to follow the example nature gives me. I am apart of nature just as much as it is apart of me. The more I relax into the moment and feel present and aware of all my surroundings the more joyful and full of life I become.

And you can too.

Let your goal today to be to find your p r e s e n c e.

your silence . your time . your space .

you deserve it
